Alan's K Series Project
I'm going to be starting on another of my wild hair projects soon. Building a low buck (hopefully) and rugged truck strictly for plowing.
The parts donors are a 79 K-10 which is giving up the bulk of the powertrain and an 82 K-20 which will donate frame and axles. I'll probably use the cab from the 82 and the front clip off the 79 as the 82 doesn't need quite as much tin work to pretty it up.
Drivetrain is 350 with (I'm assuming) TH350 and part time transfer case so it should be both durable and easy to maintain. The rear is the GM (non-full floater), if it's not posi now it probably will be before it sees the road.
The frame will get clipped seriously, I want the front spring hangers just behind the cab and almost no frame behind the rear hangers. The plan, as of now, is to build a short and tall
V box running off a hydro system. No extra engine or gearboxes to maintain that way. I already have a clutch pump that needs an overhaul and spreader controls that are just sitting here collecting dust.
I'll be taking pictures right from the beginning.
Alan
